Brown Thomas Collaboration
Digital Print Design 2018
For this two-week collaboration project, we have partnered with Brown Thomas, to create a digital print design that was to go on their in-store shopping bag. They wanted a design that is
eye-catching and futuristic. In the brief, they set out a colour theme of blues, purples and pinks. Their visual cues for what they envisioned, were a collection of mirrors, reflective surfaces, metals, glasses and strong geometric architectural shapes.
I wanted to create a design in line with their visual references, incorporating the outstanding, modern architecture of Dublin. It was also very important for me to incorporate the idea of water and fluidity, as a homage to the River Liffey, which has great significance to those visiting or living in the city. The result is a print, influenced by a strong, perhaps even aggressive architectural language, that reflects and refracts itself over and over again, in a very calculated and predictable manner. But with a touch of a subtle ripple of organic distortion, as if it was viewed from the surface of the water. ​
